The Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji Gatka Akhara was brought to Surrey, BC by Bhai Parminder Singh Ji and Bhai Charnjit Singh Ji in 2003 alongside the opening of Guru Nanak Academy by the Gurmat Studies Foundation.
Over the years, the Akhara has been dedicated to promoting the warrior traditions of the Khalsa and practicing the teachings of Shastar Vidya Gatka as passed down by Ustaad Bhai Charnjit Singh Ji.
Over the years, the Akhara and its members have been blessed to win local, national, and international competitions; teach and train hundreds of students in multiple cities across British Columbia; participate in Sikh events around the globe; and promote the martial practice of Shastar Vidhya Gatka at high profile events, such as the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Torch Relay.
The Akhara is dedicated to the principles of practice, service, community, and excellence.
